MARANG: Perikatan Nasional and Barisan Nasional are negotiating seat allocations for the upcoming Melaka election, says Pas president Tan Sri Tuan Guru Abdul Hadi Awang.<\/p>\n
He said both coalitions had held preliminary talks, with further discussions scheduled.<\/p>\n
Ustaz Hadi said the negotiations would take into account the last general election results, where BN failed to win a single parliamentary seat in Melaka.<\/p>\n
“The Melaka state assembly has not been dissolved, but discussions, particularly on Malay-Muslim unity, are ongoing.<\/p>\n
“PN and BN are working to unite and save the Malays,” he said.<\/p>\n
The Marang member of parliament was responding to BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, who had expressed BN’s intention to defend 21 of the 28 seats it holds in Melaka.<\/p>\n
Ustaz Hadi, however, said negotiations were ongoing.<\/p>\n
Separately, Hadi said he was happy that Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Ismail Lasim had included two PN assemblymen in his executive council.<\/p>\n
