Pas central committee member Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim said voting was a personal right that should not be influenced by any party or individual, including government leaders.<\/p>\n
“Under the practice of democracy, everyone has the right to vote and choose.<\/p>\n
“They must remember that government officers serve the government of the day, not choose the government of the day.<\/p>\n
“Their choices should not be determined by their superiors or anyone else. They should be free to vote and choose the leaders or any party they want to govern in the future,” he said when met after the 2026 International Waqf Dakwah Convention here today.<\/p>\n
Shahidan was responding to a statement by Prime Minister and Pakatan Harapan chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who urged security personnel casting their ballots tomorrow in the Negri Sembilan polls to continue supporting the coalition’s candidates.<\/p>\n
Anwar had said every vote cast would not only determine the direction of the state but also represent a mandate that his administration must uphold, particularly in safeguarding the welfare of security personnel and their families.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Shahidan said Perikatan Nasional and Barisan Nasional would continue working together in the Negri Sembilan polls despite issues raised by various parties.<\/p>\n
“PN and BN are inseparable. We will support BN fully, and BN will support us fully,” he said.<\/p>\n
He said both coalitions would remain focused on securing support from voters and avoid being distracted by issues raised throughout the campaign period.<\/p>\n
PH and BN formed the Negri Sembilan government following the 2023 state election after securing a combined 31 of the 36 seats.<\/p>\n
PH won 17 seats and BN secured 14, while PN won the remaining five.<\/p>\n
Early voting for the Negri Sembilan polls will take place tomorrow, involving 16,884 military personnel and their spouses, as well as 5,455 policemen and their spouses.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
