PAS will remain within Perikatan Nasional despite parting ways with former ally Bersatu.<\/p>\n
“Alhamdulillah, the decision has been made, everyone can take it easy now,” PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari told reporters upon leaving the party headquarters last night.<\/p>\n
When asked if Pas was still in PN, Fadhli said, “as of tonight, yes.”<\/p>\n
In a statement released last night, Pas president Tan Sri Tuan Guru Abdul Hadi Awang officially ended the party’s ties with Bersatu.<\/p>\n
The statement noted the decision to sever ties was endorsed by the party’s Syura Council on June 2 concerning over over policies, religious considerations and the public interest, relating to Pas’ political cooperation, based on the principle of Muslim unity.<\/p>\n
He said the meeting also reviewed the current position and direction of PAS-Bersatu ties through reports, studies and assessments of the current political landscape.<\/p>\n
