MARANG: PAS will decide whether to contest the upcoming Johor election under its own logo or that of Perikatan Nasional (PN), says party president Tuan Guru Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.<\/p>\n
He said the party would first review its electoral strategy following a briefing from PAS Johor on Monday.<\/p>\n
“We will study which option is better, depending on our influence. We will listen to a detailed briefing from Pas Johor on Monday,” he told reporters after delivering a lecture at Masjid Rusila.<\/p>\n
Ustaz Hadi, who is also Marang Member of Parliament, confirmed PAS would contest in Johor, but said the number of seats had yet to be finalised and would not necessarily cover all 56 constituencies.<\/p>\n
He said the party would assess potential candidates and insisted PAS had no shortage of qualified individuals.<\/p>\n
On the Negri Sembilan election, Hadi said PAS aimed to contest more seats following its victory in three constituencies in the 2023 polls.<\/p>\n
He said the party would focus on seats where it had narrowly lost, particularly by margins of fewer than 1,000 votes.<\/p>\n
“Pas is targeting additional seats, especially where we lost by slim majorities,” he said.<\/p>\n
Yesterday, Negri Sembilan Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun announced that the state legislative assembly would be dissolved today, following consent from the Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Negri Sembilan, Tuanku Muhriz Tuanku Munawir, which was obtained at 8.30pm last night.<\/p>\n
This paves the way for a snap state election.<\/p>\n
