The accused, who works at the Hulu Terengganu Umno division office, was charged with committing the offence with his 18-year-old stepdaughter at the office in Kuala Berang at about 5.55pm on May 25.<\/p>\n
He was also accused of a similar offence with the girl, who was then 15, at the same office at about 10pm on June 15, 2009.<\/p>\n
He pleaded not guilty to both charges.<\/p>\n
DPP Zulfazliah Mahmud requested that bail be denied as there was a possibility that the accused would harass the stepdaughter.<\/p>\n
The accused, who has two wives, however, pleaded with the court to grant bail as his first wife was paralysed.<\/p>\n
\u201cFurthermore, I have a lot of work pending, especially with the coming general election.<\/p>\n
\u201cI promise not to even contact or see my stepdaughter. She is now under the care of her uncle,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Judge Wan Fadhilah Noor Wan Idris fixed bail at RM11,000 for the first charge and RM5,000 for the second but with conditions.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe accused must not bother or attempt to contact his stepdaughter.<\/p>\n
\u201cIf he violates the condition, then the bail will be withdrawn,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
She set Oct 21 for mention.<\/p>\n
