PAS has dismissed claims that the party could lose up to 37 parliamentary seats if Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar takes over the leadership of Perikatan Nasional (PN), saying the statement does not reflect the party’s position.<\/p>\n
PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the assertion made by Sungai Buloh PAS chief Zaharudin Muhammad was merely his personal opinion and did not represent PAS.<\/p>\n
“I think that is his personal view, and it is detached from reality,” he said.<\/p>\n
The Kubang Kerian member of Parliament said this when met at the ‘Karnival Kubang Kerian Sejahtera 2026’ in Tunjong last night.<\/p>\n
Tuan Ibrahim said PAS’s performance under Samsuri’s leadership in Terengganu demonstrated otherwise, pointing to the party’s strong electoral record in the state.<\/p>\n
“If we look at the achievements of the Terengganu state government under his leadership, Pas recorded an outstanding performance.<\/p>\n
“The party won all state assembly and parliamentary seats in the state.<\/p>\n
“That is a remarkable achievement. To suggest that Pas would decline because of his leadership is not consistent with what has actually happened,” he said.<\/p>\n
He stressed that Zaharudin’s remarks should be viewed as an individual analysis and not the stance of the party.<\/p>\n
“That is his personal analysis. It does not represent Pas. Everyone is free to express their views,” he said.<\/p>\n
Tuan Ibrahim added that what mattered most was the collective commitment within PN, noting that Pas would support and strengthen the coalition once decisions are made by the top leadership of its component parties.<\/p>\n
“For us, what is important is PN’s unity and commitment. When the top leadership of each party makes a decision, we will support it and work to strengthen PN in preparation for the 16th General Election,” he said.<\/p>\n
Zaharuddin was reported to have said PAS stands to lose 37 parliamentary seats if Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar takes over the leadership of PN.<\/p>\n
The son-in-law of PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said his conclusion was based on internal party data that he declined to disclose.<\/p>\n
