Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s resignation as Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman was not due to pressure from Pas, said the party’s election director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor.<\/p>\n
Sanusi, who is also Kedah Menteri Besar, dismissed claims that Pas leaders had exerted pressure on Muhyiddin to step down.<\/p>\n
“Pressure from Pas? No,” he told reporters on the sidelines of the Kedah State Land and Mines Office New Year Address 2026 at Dewan Seri Mentaloon here today.<\/p>\n
He was responding to allegations by Muhyiddin’s former principal private secretary, Datuk Dr Marzuki Mohamad, who claimed there had been pressure from Pas leaders for Muhyiddin to relinquish the post.<\/p>\n
On who would lead PN next, he said that the matter would be decided only through an official coalition meeting.<\/p>\n
“Wait for the next PN meeting to see who becomes chairman. Even if it were me, I would decline. I don’t want it, let someone else take it. Anyone,” he said.<\/p>\n
Sanusi added that leadership decisions should not be made publicly without proper deliberation, warning that doing so could create confusion.<\/p>\n
