Woman attacked by robbers dies in hospital

During the robbery at Taman Desa Darul Iman in Kemaman, the 53-year-old woman whose hands were tied and her mouth gagged, was believed to have been beaten by the robbers at the 4am incident.

The victim was with her helpless 13-year-old daughter when the incident happened as her husband, a businessman, had gone to Kota Baharu on a business trip.

State CID chief ACP K. Manoharan said neighbours who went to investigate after seeing the house door ajar, found the unconscious woman lying on a bed.

The neighbours later rushed to the Kemanan Hospital but died 15 minutes later, believed to be due to suffocation.

The victim’s daughter who was sleeping in another room, claimed she was awakened by screams from her mother but only came out when the neighbours and police had arrived about 30 minutes later.

Manoharan said police believe there were more than one assailant involved but added that police found some evidence that may be vital to track down the robbers.- Bernama
