PAS President Tan Sri Tuan Guru Abdul Hadi Awang is ready to cooperate with police over his claim that the United States sought to interfere in Malaysia’s political affairs by helping to topple the government before 2018.
His political secretary, Syahir Sulaiman, confirmed that Bukit Aman had contacted them following several police reports lodged over the claim.
“Yes, Bukit Aman has contacted us. Hadi has been informed and is ready to give the police his full cooperation.
“The date and time will be determined later,” he told Berita Harian when contacted today.
Three police reports have been lodged over the Marang member of Parliament’s claim that the US had offered assistance to topple the Malaysian government in 2014.
Speaking at the 72nd PAS Muktamar in Kelantan, Hadi alleged that several PAS leaders had been invited to meet representatives of the US Embassy during then-US president Barack Obama’s visit to Malaysia in 2014.
He claimed the representatives had offered to help topple the then-Barisan Nasional government.
The US Embassy in Kuala Lumpur yesterday denied the allegation, saying its representatives had never offered to help the Islamist party oust the BN government.
