BESUT – Police have detained three men for allegedly assaulting a university student in an incident at Kampung Batu Tumboh near here on Wednesday.
The student of Shibaura University in Tokyo, Japan, who is back home at Kampung Nail, Kuala Besut, for the semester holidays, sustained bruises and cuts on the head and body in the attack which occurred about 4am and was sent to the Besut District Hospital.
Besut district police chief Supt Kamaruddin Mohd Zakaria, when contacted, confirmed the incident.
He said the victim had earlier went to play futsal and then went to a girlfriend’s house at Kampung Batu Tumbuh to return her laptop charger.
“The victim was entering his car to return home when three men approached him and accused him of stealing and then beat him up,” he added.
He said villagers who heard the commotion went to the student’s aid.The victim’s father, who was informed of the incident, went to the scene and took his soon to a hospital before lodging a police report.
Following which, Kamaruddin said three traders were detained to facilitate police investigation into the case.– BERNAMA
