A Malindo Air spokesman told the NST that the aircraft took off at 7.35am, before the incident occurred soon after.
He said the pilot had taken immediate action by switching off the affected engine, before safely landing at Subang airport.
It is learnt that among the passengers onboard were players of the Terengganu football team, who were on their way back after yesterday’s match against ATM FA in Selayang.
A picture of the engine on fire mid air had gone viral since it was posted on social media by one of the passengers earlier this morning.
