Any decision regarding PAS’ relationship with Bersatu will be determined by the party’s Majlis Syura Ulama, said PAS vice-president Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah.

He said the party was still waiting for a full report from the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition leadership before any move could be made.

“At the moment, we are waiting for a report from the coalition leaders.

“Once the report is completed, it will be presented to the Majlis Syura. We have to wait for the report to be finalised first,” the Panchor assemblyman said.

Amar said the Majlis Syura would study the report in detail before making any decision concerning PAS’ ties with Bersatu and the future direction of cooperation within PN.

The decision will only be made after the report has been scrutinised by the Majlis Syura,” he said.

His remarks came amid speculation surrounding the relationship between PN and Bersatu following reports that PAS had held an emergency meeting to discuss matters involving the coalition.

On May 24, PAS held an emergency meeting to discuss issues concerning PN, including the party’s future with its component partner, Bersatu.

The meeting, chaired by PAS President Tan Sri Tuan Guru Abdul Hadi Awang in Kuala Terengganu, involved the party’s top leadership, including the PAS Political Bureau and Central Committee.

Tensions between PAS and Bersatu resurfaced after Ustaz Hadi reportedly said PAS would re-evaluate its cooperation with Bersatu following several actions by the party led by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, which were seen as violating the spirit of camaraderie within the PN coalition.

The Marang member of parliament was reported to have said the decision was made following a series of actions by Bersatu deemed “unpleasant” by his party.- Source NST
