KUALA TERENGGANU – A Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) student is in police custody to facilitate investigations into the dumping of the body of a baby girl in the campus’ sewage plant here last Thursday.
This followed the detection of blood stains at a hostel in the UiTM early this morning, where the 19-year-old suspect was staying.
A team of UiTM staff inspected the hostel and sent her to the Dungun Hospital for further examination. A police report was also lodged.
State CID chief ACP K. Manoharan said the police did not rule out the possibility that the blood stains found in the hostel belonged to the teenager.
“Based on preliminary investigations, we believe the student, who is from Selangor, is responsible for dumping the body (into the sewage plant).
“She will be detained after undergoing medical treatment at the hospital. We have identified her 20-year-old boyfriend, also from Selangor, and would record his statement soon,” he told reporters here.
The remains of the baby were found in the sewage plant of the UiTM campus here by a contractor carrying out maintenance work last Thursday. The remains had turned bluish, with the head bearing signs of trauma, and right shoulder broken and decaying. – Bernama
