Selangor PAS has reiterated that it will not agree to any cooperation with right wing Malay group Perkasa.

“Selangor PAS does not agree with any cooperation with Perkasa.

“Even though Selangor PAS is prepared to cooperate with those that respect PAS’ principles and struggle against Barisan Nasional, we reject any quarters that bring out racial sentiments,” said Selangor PAS commissioner Datuk Iskandar Abdul Samad (pic).

Iskandar said it received an explanation from its headquarters that the visit by Perkasa chief Datuk Ibrahim Ali to PAS president Datuk Seri Hadi Awang on Tuesday was a courtesy visit.

On Tuesday evening, PAS denied reports that they are officially working with Perkasa, saying that the Malay rights group only paid them a courtesy visit at their headquarters in Kuala Lumpur.

The Islamist party said during the meting, they agreed to work on three matters with Perkasa – the issues of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), the Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement (TPPA) and Special Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma).

“Some reports have stated that PAS is officially working with Perkasa. It is wrong and not true at all,” said Hadi’s political secretary Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar in a statement.

He added that there were no discussions on both parties working together.

Thirty-four Perkasa members held a two-hour discussion with Hadi, PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyuddin Hassan and PAS elections director Datuk Mustafa Ali.-thestaronline
