Selangor PAS will battle for 42 state assembly seats in the state for the next general election.

State PAS commissioner Sallehen Mukhyi (pic) said these includes the Kajang and Bukit Antarabangsa seats which are currently being held by PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail and Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali respectively.

Sallehen told a press conference here on Thursday that PAS was prepared to face three-cornered fights in the general election.

He said PAS was also considering contesting the Gombak parliamentary seat which is being held by Azmin.

“That decision will be made by the party leadership at the central committee level but at the moment, we are considering contesting for that seat as well,” said Sallehen.

He said the seat had been contested by former PAS member Dr Mohd Hatta Ramli in 1999 and 2004.

Azmin won the Gombak seat in the 2008 and 2013 general elections.

Sallehen said PAS was pushed to contest in three-cornered fights with Barisan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan candidates.

“Actually PAS is not keen on three-cornered fights.

“We don’t like three-cornered fights but we decided to do so following the statements by Selangor DAP chairman Tony Pua and Selangor Parti Amanah Negara chairman Izham Hashim, saying they will contest all the seats currently being held by PAS,” he added.

There are 56 state seats in Selangor. – thestar.
