KUALA TERENGGANU, Dec 28 — A man whose wife was accosted by a pair of snatch thieves on Monday got a measure of revenge when he later rammed the duo as they were in the midst of another robbery.

According to the head of Terengganu CID, ACP K. Manoharan (picture), the two men had tried to rob the man’s wife outside a supermarket here at around 1pm on Monday but quickly fled when the husband arrived.

The 31-year-old man later chanced upon the motorcycle-riding duo just as they snatched a bag belonging to a 57-year-old man some distance away.

Upon seeing the duo, the man gave chase in his car before ramming the machine the two had been riding about half a km later.

“The impact flung the two robbers off their motorcycle and into a drain,” Manoharan was quoted in the Bernama Online report.

One of the men was detained while the other managed to flee.

“Police recovered the bag belonging to the elderly man. The theft suspect, from Chabang Tiga here, tested positive for drug usage,” Manoharan added.

The suspect is currently being held on remand and police are also looking for the partner in crime.
