PN Ready To Meet MCA Over PAS-related Coalition Concerns

Perikatan Nasional (PN) is prepared to meet MCA leadership following the party’s indication that it is unlikely to join the coalition due to resistance from the Chinese community over Pas-linked issues.

PN chief whip Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said he only learned of MCA’s stance today.

“This is a new matter to me. I only heard about MCA’s statement today although MCA has recently begun engaging with us and we do meet from time to time,” he said.

Speaking after launching a futsal court in Kampung Sireh, Takiyuddin said parties wishing to join coalitions should not impose conditions.

“In my view, if any party wishes to join any alliance, it should not attach any conditions. As for MCA, perhaps they have their own justification. We do not know yet. We need to hear directly from them first. What was said is that they still do not agree with Pas, even though when PN was the government previously, Pas had ministers in the Cabinet,” he added.

The Kota Baru MP stated PN has no issue cooperating with any party. “We work with anyone. As stated by the Pas president, our priority is for the Malays and Bumiputera, as well as the non-Malays who are not extreme. With that principle, we are prepared to cooperate with anyone,” he said. – NST
