The possibility of Pakatan Harapan (PH) working with Bersatu in the upcoming Melaka state election is another indication that the two parties are moving towards political cooperation, said Perikatan Nasional (PN) secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan.
Takiyuddin, who is also Pas secretary-general, said PH’s openness to working with Bersatu, after previously cooperating with Umno, raised questions about the nature of the political relationship between the parties.
“Whether they want to cooperate in Melaka is something we do not know. That has to be confirmed by them.
“But if PH itself has confirmed that it is prepared to work with Bersatu, it becomes increasingly clear what is happening,” he said.
Takiyuddin said the development could be seen as an admission by PH that it was prepared to establish political cooperation with Bersatu.
“It is like the saying, the clearer the light, the clearer the picture.
“This is a confession, an admission from PH that they will cooperate with Bersatu.
“It is another piece of evidence that they are moving towards establishing political cooperation,” he told reporters today.
Takiyuddin was commenting on Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari’s remarks that PH was open to working with Bersatu in the Melaka election.
Amirudin, who is the coalition’s election director, said PH had no problem considering cooperation with various parties, including Bersatu, as political alliances should be assessed based on circumstances and the need to ensure a stable government.
He added that PH was prepared to consider various possibilities in Melaka, including cooperation with Bersatu, while ensuring that cooperation within the coalition remained intact. NST
