KEPALA BATAS: Penang PAS will be sending letters to its 1,083 members who are in the Village Security Development Committees (JKKKs) to quit with immediate effect.

State PAS commissioner Muhammad Fauzi Yusof said the party met with the members and they have agreed that they should resign.

He said the party had received information that some of its members had made up the quotas of PKR and DAP in the JKKKs here.

“This is because it is a requirement for a JKKK to have enough members for the chairman and secretary of each committee to be eligible for their allowances,” he claimed during a press conference at the state PAS headquarters in Pongsu Seribu here yesterday

This comes in the wake of the DAP-led state government sacking 300 JKKK members from PAS.

Muhammad Fauzi also said the party leadership had discovered that some of the JKKK members, who are with PAS, had not received their termination notices.

“So far, only a few have received their termination notices and not 300 as alleged,” he said.

“In the Teluk Bahang JKKK, only four PAS members have been sacked when in actual fact the majority of the committee members are PAS members.”

Also present at the press conference were Penang PAS information chief Iszuree Ibrahim and Kepala Batas PAS division chief Bhukori Ghazali.

On Wednesday, Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng and his deputy Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon had announced the sacking of the 300 JKKK members here.

It was said that the sacking took place in October and those who fully supported the Pakatan Harapan state government had since replaced the terminated representatives.-thestaronline
