PAS Youth: Keep Khalid as MB

KUALA LUMPUR: Despite opposing views from many of its members, PAS Youth has decided to throw its support behind PKR in the Kajang by-election.

However, its chief Suhaizan Kaiat said the wing’s support was conditional on Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim remaining as Selangor mentri besar.

“Although we support Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as the candidate, this does not mean that we agree with him becoming the mentri besar,” Suhaizan said yesterday.

He also said the Youth wing was upset with the abrupt resignation of former Kajang assemblyman Lee Chin Cheh, describing it as a “waste of time and public funds”.

“It also exposes Pakatan to the risk of deteriorating support from the people,” he said.

Some PAS members, especially from the Youth wing, have even threatened to boycott PKR’s bid to win the seat that was abruptly left vacant.

Suhaizan said the wing acknowledged the unhappiness within the party over the development, but felt they should not give rival Barisan Nasional a “free win”.

“Many have come forward to us and said they were not happy. We welcome their views but their views do not reflect our decision,” he said. – source the star online
