KUALA TERENGGANU, April 7 (Bernama) — PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said the party will campaign for the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) candidate for Hulu Selangor by-election on April 25.

“I understand five names have been shortlisted as candidate for the by-election. PKR adviser Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will brief me next week,” he told reporters here on Wednesday.

Nomination for Hulu Selangor by-election was fixed on April 17 with polling on April 25.

It was called following the death of Datuk Dr Zainal Abidin Ahmad of PKR on March 25.

Zainal won the seat with majority of 198 votes beating Datuk G. Palanivel of BN at the 2008 general election. Hulu Selangor has 63,593 voters.

Hadi also urged the government to clarify the appointment of international communication consultant APCO Worldwide as it had compromised national security.

He proposed block voting to seek government clarification whether APCO was operated by Zionists or assisted in creating the 1Malaysia concept.

Anwar urged the government to withdraw the contract with APCO and set up a royal commission to investigate the firm as it was a risk to national security.

The APCO issue was raised by Anwar when referring to the motion by Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan (BN- Kota Belud) who wanted him to be referred to the Parliamentary Rights and Privileges Committee for claiming that the 1Malaysia concept was copied from the “One Israel” slogan.
