PAS’ Selangor Exco Members to Remain

Selangor’s 10 exco members will not resign despite the sacking of Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim from PKR as Pakatan Rakyat seeks to reassure people that the state administration would remain stable.

Selangor PAS commissioner Iskandar Samad said PAS’ four representatives would not quit as it could paralyse the state administration.

“If we do not cooperate to maintain the state government, it is the people who will suffer,” Iskandar told reporters at the party’s Hari Raya open house in Kuala Lumpur.

DAP and PKR have each three members in the exco line-up. The DAP has also decided that its exco members would remain.

“Such arrangement is necessary to ensure the continued administration of Selangor until the appointment of the new mentri besar,” the party said in a statement issued after its central executive committee meeting yesterday.

The DAP said the Selangor Pakatan Rakyat government remained stable and legitimate with 43 members in the 56-seat assembly despite the expulsion of Khalid.

PKR has, meanwhile, given no indication that its three exco members will resign.
