He said the Pakatan Rakyat parties had also reached a consensus on the matter during its convention in Shah Alam a few months ago.
Abdul Hadi added he did not want to dwell on the issue.
“I have said enough,” he told reporters yesterday at the foyer of the Terengganu state assembly.
He was commenting on recent remarks by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who praised Abdul Hadi for his defence of the special rights of the Malays and the bumiputras.
The PAS president had made the remarks in response to an earlier suggestion by Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua that discounts be abolished for houses costing more than RM500,000 and commercial lots costing more than RM2mil in Selangor.
Asked again about Pua’s remarks, Hadi said while the discounts to bumiputras should not be scrapped, similar benefits should be accorded to other poor Malaysians.
Abdul Hadi said PAS considered Pua’s stand on the matter as just his personal view and had nothing to do with Pakatan.
In Shah Alam, Perkasa chief Datuk Ibrahim Ali said Abdul Hadi’s views on Malay and Bumiputra rights should not be merely political rhetoric.
“PAS has realised that the Malays are not happy with the situation, which has been exploited by some parties like DAP, and has stood up for the people.
“And I agree with what he said. But on one condition, PAS has to fulfil its words,” he told reporters after closing the Selangor Perkasa meeting here yesterday.
In welcoming Abdul Hadi’s remarks, Ibrahim however cast doubt if PAS would be able to speak up on behalf of the new Malaysia, that was becoming more complex than ever.-TheStarOnline
