Abdul Hadi, who is the state assemblyman for Rhu Rendang and member of parliament for Marang, said the budget was the biggest among the states in the peninsula.

“The budget is too big, much different from those of the other states. It is inconsistent with the population as well as the revenue of the state,” he said to reporters during a break in the State Assembly sitting.

Earlier, in the assembly, Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman (BN-Seberang Takir) had tabled a motion for a supplementary development allocation of RM157,096,700 for 2010.

Dr Syed Azman Syed Ahmad Nawawi (PAS-Batu Buruk) then tabled a motion under Clause 30 of the Standing Orders for the assembly to adjourn proceedings and discuss the state’s expenditure during the administration of Ahmad Said from 2008 to 2010.

He said the state’s annual budget had exceeded RM2 billion for 2008 and 2009 and it was almost RM1.9 billion for 2010 and that the supplementary allocation would raise it to more than RM2 billion.

However, Speaker Datuk Tengku Putera Tengku Awang rejected the motion, saying the matter was being discussed and that allowing the motion would result in duplication.
