KUALA TERENGGANU: PAS President Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang extended his condolences to the family of the late Karpal Singh, who died in a car accident in Perak early this morning.
Hadi said Karpal was a courageous fighter and has high confidence in every matter he pursued.
“On behalf of PAS, I wish to extend my condolences to all the family members of the late Karpal.
He was a father, a friend, a veteran politician and a lawyer who never stopped fighting for justice and to uphold the rule of law,” said Hadi in a short statement to Pas’ mouthpiece Harakahdaily.
The statement was forwaded to the New Straits Times by his personal assistant as Hadi was not available for comments.
Karpal, the former DAP chairman and Bukit Gelugor MP, was killed in an accident involving a multi-purpose vehicle he was travelling in and a lorry on the North-South Expressway near Gua Tempurung in Kampar at 12.40am yesterday.
Karpal was 74 and leaves behind a wife, five children and four grandhildren.The prominent lawyer was with his son Ramkapal Singh, his personel assistant Micheal Cornelius and a maid when their vehicle rammed into the side of a lorry .
