PAS is confident its candidate Mohd Azam Abd Samat will be able to retain the Sungai Limau seat, won by former mentri besar Tan Sri Azizan Abdul Razak, with a majority of at least 500 votes.

“Mohd Azam should be able to win with the same number of votes that Azizan got, which is 500 votes, when he contested here in 1995,” Kedah PAS Commissioner Datuk Mahfuz Omar said.

He said the party is strong enough to withstand the Barisan Nasional’s challenge even though the latter’s machinery has tried moving into PAS’s “black areas” in the constituency

“This is democracy, we cannot stop them.”He said he wanted to know if BN has one or two candidates contesting the by-election.He said the party has spotted the streamers of BN candidate Dr Ahmad Sohaimi Lazim as well as those representing Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir.

“Both streamers have the ‘N20 Sungai Limau’ constituency stated on them. People here would be confused as to whether they are voting for Ahmad Sohaimi or Mukhriz?”Mahfuz noted that streamers of BN president Datuk Seri Najib Abdul Razak had been used in the by-election.

“we want the Election Commission to give us an explanation, on whether something like this is legal,” he told a press conference at the PAS operations centre in Padang Lumat here today.Mahfuz said the party had discovered another can of “expired condensed milk”, which was distributed by the BN election machinery in Bukit Besar recently.

“It has the same expiry date, Oct 26, as we had exposed earlier this week.”Mahfuz again advised the people to be wary and check the goods they had received to avoid possible food poisoning
