Pahang Umno is open to cooperating with any political party, including Pas, if it benefits the people of the state, says Umno vice-president Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail.
The Pahang Menteri Besar said the state government was focused on working for the people, with the next general election neither imminent nor too far away.
“I have never issued any statement saying that we (Pahang Umno) have rejected cooperation with Pas. Those making such claims should explain the source of the statement.
“We are now working for the people. Although the election is neither very far away nor imminent, our focus is on getting the work done for the people,” he told reporters here today.
Wan Rosdy said anyone could claim that Umno had rejected political cooperation, but questioned whether they had actually heard him make such a statement.
He was responding to Pahang Pas commissioner Datuk Rosli Abdul Jabar’s remarks yesterday that the party was prepared to contest against Umno if talks on political cooperation between the two parties failed to materialise for the 16th General Election.
