PAS’ doors are still wide open for Umno members, says party central committee member Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Aziz.
He said it was the best option that Umno had so far because, if the party chooses to go solo, it will eventually die off.
If Umno instead chooses to forge ties with Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Pribumi), other Pakatan Harapan component parties will not like it.
He said Umno only had four choices – survive on its own, join hands with Pribumi, forge good ties with PAS or await its demise.
“Pakatan Harapan dreads choice number two. All parties will be happy with choice number four, except Umno.
“If Umno goes for choice number one, it will lead to choice number four (death).
“And choice number three is under close watch,” he said in his Facebook posting.
The Bachok MP said PAS’ door for Umno members and its supporters remains open.
He called it a “normal process” of renewal”, adding that one of the factors of growing PAS membership was the migration of Umno members from time to time.
Nik Abduh questioned if Umno will recover from its many past mistakes if it forged ties with PAS.
“Or will PAS be ‘tainted’ if it forges close ties with Umno?”
Nik Abduh also denied claims that PAS’ survival was also at stake.
“Pakatan Harapan had never feared Umno. Pakatan Harapan is only scared of PAS.
“That means PAS is the future for Malaysia,” he added. – thestar
