Mother of 3 held for drug trafficking

KUALA TERENGGANU: A mother of three who took the risk of continuing her husband’s drug trafficking business to support her family, while he served a prison sentence, had her cover blown in a police operation on Feb 29.

State Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department chief Supt Roslan Abd Wahid said based on surveillance information, they raided the 44-year-old woman’s rented house in Taman Sri Binjai, Bukit Payung, Marang about 3.30 am.    

“We seized six bottles of white powder believed to be heroin, 30 methamphetamine pills, RM2,000 in cash and a Proton Wira,” he said when contacted by Bernama here today.    

The suspect was at home with her three sons, ranging from 10 to 17 years old, at the time of the raid, he added.     

Roslan said the suspect admitted to trafficking for more than two years since her husband’s arrest in April 2009. 

The woman who is from Kuala Berang has been remanded until March 13 to facilitate investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.  
Meanwhile, on the same day, a rubber tapper was detained for the possession of heroin and methamphetamine.   

The man, also an addict, was picked up about 4 am at Kampung Felda Belara, Kuala Terengganu.  

“We seized two bottles of heroin and 70 methamphetamine pills from his car,” said Roslan.   — BERNAMA
