‘Mature And Fair’ To Label Ex-PAS Leaders As Traitors

It is “mature and fair” for PAS to label its former members who had joined Amanah as traitors, PAS Youth chief Muhammad Khalil Abdul Hadi said today.

The son of PAS president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said that such action is in fact in line with PAS’ political approach that was introduced in 2016, that called for a “mature and prosperous” form of politics.

“A mature politics is a kind of politics that acts fairly. Fairness here, in Islam, is to put something which befits its place. I feel, PAN (Amanah) is a party that has betrayed PAS.

“Therefore, the harsh statements from the PAS leadership who attack PAN, I feel, is a mature action because it is fair for them to do so,” Khalil told Malay Mail Online’s sister publication, ProjekMMO in an interview.

“Especially for elected representatives; parliamentarians and state assemblymen, who contested on PAS’ ticket and engkar bai’ah (violated their allegiance) to the party.

“And at the same time, they betrayed the members, PAS supporters who had voted for them,” he added.

He was asked to comment on whether it was fair to label ex-PAS leaders as traitors.

Khalil, who is currently in the process of completing his doctorate degree in contemporary Islam, also viewed Amanah as not a serious threat to PAS.

He said that the people can see for themselves how DAP is riding on its popularity, adding that it is DAP that is the dominant party in Pakatan Harapan.

“So how is PAN going to overpower two parties that have a bigger influence, unlike when PAS was in Pakatan?”

“Despite having a much lower seat count as compared to DAP and PKR, PAS however has the strength of its grassroots from divisions, and won state assembly seats in Kedah and Kelantan,” he added.
