Names of undergraduates who were alleged to have been involved in selling sex toys and operating a prostitution ring should be forwarded to the respective universities, said Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin.

He said it was up to the universities to take action against the culprits if reports of such activities were true.

“Universities have their own regulations and all students must abide by them.

“Any breach of regulations will result in punishment,” he said yesterday.

Mohamed Khaled also said people should not make allegations, especially one as serious as university students selling sex gadgets and running a prostitution ring, without proof.

“If such illegal activities occur, then submit the names of those involved to the universities.

“In the past, university authorities have taken action against many students involved in illegal activities such as possessing pornographic materials,” he added.

Mohamed Khaled was asked about an allegation by Amrie Amanah, who recently graduated from a university in Terengganu, that sex toys were being sold in the university.

The graduate claimed that they were being sold for as low as RM50 by a group of seniors in clandestine transactions.

He also claimed that the seniors had links with other universities in the east coast and that they even provided sexual partners for a sum.

Amrie also alleged that the students bought the gadgets from a neighbouring country and stored them at a house in Gong Badak here.- The Star Online
