PAS has extended an invitation to Mukhriz Mahathir to join the Islamist party, if he wants to become the Kedah Menteri Besar again.
PAS Deputy President Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said this while commenting on Mukhriz’s statement yesterday that Umno had plans to “surrender” Kedah to PAS in the next general election.
Mukhriz had further claimed that this was part of a pact between PAS and Umno’s “highest echelons” in their effort to unite the two parties.
“He (Mukhriz) has to join PAS, only then can he become menteri besar again,” Tuan Ibrahim told FMT.
Mukhriz had following his sacking from Umno recently, told reporters that Kedah Umno should be wary of losing the state to PAS, due to a pact between the leaders of both parties.
“They are trying to unite PAS and Umno. I feel Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah would be handed to PAS, as part of the deal,” Mukhriz had said.
Tuan Ibrahim said that PAS would do all it could to regain Kedah from Umno.
“We will continue to fight Umno in Kedah. The deciding factor for a win is the rakyat, and not any political party,” he said.
Tuan Ibrahim also “reminded” Mukhriz that many Opposition politicians had backed the latter during the Kedah MB crisis.
