Terengganu PAS commissioner Abdul Wahid Endut said that although is was PKR’s intention, it was not right to make the announcement.

He was reacting to comments on Sunday by state PKR chairman Azan Ismail that his party had identified the candidates to contest in the 11 state and three parliamentary seats it intended to contest at the next polls.

Azan, who is Indera Mahkota MP, said the decision was in line with its goal to help the Pakatan coalition win seats in the state.

Describing the announcement as premature, Abdul Wahid, who is Kuala Terengganu MP, added: “Discussions on the seat allocation are still ongoing among the Pakatan leaders. It is premature to say anything when Pakatan leaders have yet to make a final decision.

“We will leave it to the central leadership to decide but we expect the status quo to remain, with PAS contesting the majority of seats in Terengganu.”

PAS currently holds eight seats in the 32-seat Terengganu state assembly. The rest are held by Barisan Nasional, with 23 by Umno and one by MCA.

In the Dewan Rakyat, Terengganu is represented by eight MPs (eight from Umno and two from PAS).
