KUALA TERENGGANU: An underage girl, her boyfriend and an accomplice have been detained for allegedly operating a small-scale drug trafficking operation here.

During the police raid at 4.30am yesterday, the 16-year-old girl and her 24-year-old boyfriend tried to hide in a cupboard located in a bedroom of a house belonging to one of the suspects in Kampung Sungai Rengas here.

The third suspect, a 23-year-old labourer, was detained near the house when he tried to escape.

It is learnt that the house was used as a packaging centre for pil kuda (methamphetamine) before the pills were distributed to addicts in the area.

Police also seized more than 10 pills along with an assortment of packaging items.

The girl, who is a school dropout, even made a desperate attempt to escape by telling the officers that she had just arrived at the house and did not know about the drugs.

Police believed the three suspects were responsible for distributing drugs in the village and its surrounding areas.

All three tested positive for consuming methamphetamine.

State narcotics chief Supt Roslan Abdul Wahid, who confirmed the arrests, said the raid was carried out following information given by the public.
