KUCHING: Following continuous rain, several areas in the state, including Sibu, Bintulu and Miri have been affected by floods.
Water levels at Batang Rajang River, Lupar River, Tatau River, Sarawak River and Baran River have breached the warning level.
Two people are still missing after a boat ferrying five people capsized in Sungai Sibiew on Sunday, while the others survived.
The areas that were flooded around Bintulu were Mile 5, Taman Beverly, Kg Kamunting, Taman Putrajaya, Jade Garden, Bandar Baru and Taman Desa Damai.-TheStarOnline
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department is maintaining its orange alert for Kuching, Samarahan, Mukah and Sri Aman and yellow alert for Sibu, Miri, Bintulu and Sarikei.
The orange alert means monsoon rain is currently occurring or expected to occur in the next 24 hours while the yellow warning denotes the possibility of a monsoonal surge within the next 48 hours.
