PAS representatives in Selangor have been told to support Mentri Besar Azmin Ali as questions are being asked if there will be a hung parliament due to problems between Pakatan Rakyat component parties.
PAS president Datuk Seri Hadi Awang (pic) said that the party’s central leadership had instructed its assemblymen to keep on supporting Azmin through Selangor PAS commissioner Datuk Iskandar Samad.
“I would like to stress that the co-operation between PAS and the other component parties in Pakatan Rakyat Selangor is to defend the government that was built with the trust of the people,” he said in a statement posted on Harakah Daily on Tuesday.
Hadi admitted that that the situation in Pakatan was very challenging due to the difference in opinion.
“For PAS, the original consensus was built on the matters of common interest while at the same time respecting the difference of opinion among the parties in Pakatan,” he said.
DAP had declared Pakatan Rakyat to be dead, following a PAS Ulama Council proposal to severe ties with them during their Muktamar earlier this month.
Hadi, however, insisted that Pakatan was not dead.
A break-up of Pakatan could see a hung parliament as DAP and PAS each have 15 seats, while PKR has 13 seats, Barisan Nasional 12 seats and one independent.
Azmin said that he had assured Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah on Monday that the state government would continue to meet the people’s aspirations.- source – thestaroline
