KUALA TERENGGANU – The Terengganu Poultry Breeders Association today appealed to the government to control the price of chicks and chicken feed from spiralling.
TBA committee member, Shamshuddin Wahab [Picture] said the rise in price of chicks and chicken feed had affected breeders especially the small farmer.
“This is even before the risk of chicken dying from diseases and other costs undertaken by breeders,” he told Bernama.
Shamshuddin said the price of chicks now was RM2.40 each compared to RM1.40 earlier while the price of chicken feed had increased from RM70 to RM80 a sack.
He said as preparation for Ramadan month, breeders in Terengganu had stepped up farm capacity in anticipation of the above normal demand for chicken during this period.- BERNAMA
