Three held over rape teen

SETIU: Police arrested three men here, and are looking for another two, for allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl several times since last year.

The matter came to light after the girl, from Kampung Pak Kancil spent the night with her boyfriend, and was caught hiding in some bushes later in the day while her parents were out searching for her.

She confessed to having sexual relations with the boyfriend and several other men in the past year, District police chief Deputy Superintendent Shaik Othman Abdul Hamid said.

Shocked, the family lodged a police report. Medical checks confirmed that she had been raped.

Six arrested in drug raids

Six men were arrested in narcotic raids in two villages here on Wednesday.

In a raid at a house in Kampung Kolam Penarik, two men were arrested after they had just finished packing 41 straws of heroin.

District police chief Deputy Superintendent Shaik Othman Abdul Hamid said police also seized three vials of the drug, weighing 2.7 grammes.

Two other men were nabbed in a hut several metres away 30 minutes later. Both were high on methamphetamine.

Police then went to a house in Kampung Bukit Drever Bintang and arrested a man for possession of pornographic compact discs.

Another man was detained in the same village for drug abuse. –

1.63kg of drugs seized in raids
KUALA TERENGGANU: Two drug traffickers were nabbed by the police in separate raids in Wakaf Mempelam and Mengabang Telipot here last weekend.

State Narcotics Department chief Superintendent Roslan Abdul Wahid said police also seized a total of 1.63kg of cannabis worth RM114,000 from the suspects.

He added that both suspects were 28 years old and one of them was a graduate who travelled to Thailand regularly.

A Proton Wira and a Volvo were also seized from the suspects, he told a press conference here yesterday.

Both men, from Kuala Terengganu, also tested positive for cannabis.

In a related development, Roslan said police recorded 8,187 drug-related arrests in Terengganu from January to September this year, an increase of 13 per cent compared with the same period last year.

He added that the number of arrests had increased by 17 per cent, with 277 suspects detained compared with 233 last year.- NST Online
