SHAH ALAM: The father of murdered Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu wants to amend the family’s RM100mil lawsuit against the Government and three others.

Shaariibuu Setev wants to include the conviction and main findings against two accused persons, said his lawyer Ramkarpal Singh.

High Court judge Justice Suraya Othman set July 7 to hear the application.

A copy of the application was given to all involved parties except Kpl Sirul Azhar Umar, who is being held in Australia.

Ramkarpal said they had to get leave from the court to serve the application on Sirul.

This application will be heard on June 11.

Speaking to reporters here yesterday, Ramkarpal said the judge also set June 11 to hear an application by lawyer Datuk Hazman Ahmad to withdraw from representing Chief Insp Azilah Hadri, who was convicted of the model’s murder.

It is over claims of alleged conspiracy and wrongful killing.

The civil suit was filed in June 2007 by Shaariibuu, his wife Altantsetseg Sanjaa and two grandsons, who are minors.

The case stalled because the High Court wanted the criminal trial to end first.

Among others, they are seeking damages, which included treatment for one of Altantuya’s sons who suffers from a medical condition.

The defendants named were former political analyst Abdul Razak Baginda, the Government and the two men who had been found guilty of murdering Altantuya.

On Jan 13, the Federal Court convicted Azilah, 38, and Sirul,43, for the 2006 murder.

The former police commandos were sentenced to death.

High Court judge Justice Mohd Zaki Md Yasin had acquitted and discharged Abdul Razak without calling for his defence on Oct 31, 2008 on a charge of abetting in the murder of the translator.

The prosecution did not appeal over his acquittal.-thestaronline
