KUALA LUMPUR: Police are looking for ‘Ah Hai,” a suspect crucial in the investigation into the hand grenade explosion at the Sun Complex in Bukit Bintang on Thursday.

City police chief Datuk Tajuddin Md Isa said ‘Ah Hai’ was allegedly involved in a case in Sentul in August – he had aimed a pistol at a policeman.

“We believe Ah Hai was the main target; initial investigations found him to be an important witness in the case, police are trying to locate him,” he said.[Pic above – Police detonating a second grenade outside the Sun Complex on Thursday]

Tajuddin said police had earlier completed a case involving Ah Hai and submitted the investigation paper to the Attorney-General’s Chambers for further action.

‘A Hai’ is said to be a 53-year-old Godfather of Gang 21 who was involved in illegal businesses, including gambling.

The incident outside the Cherry Blossom night club on Thursday killed a car jockey and injured 12 others, including two China nationals, Two Singaporeans and a Thai.

Tajuddin said eight of the victims had given their statements.

Tiong Kwong Yie, 36, succumbed to serious injuries hours after the blast at 4.25am.

Police are looking at gang warfare and secret societies to be behind the blast. – Bernama
