KUALA TERENGGANU: A total of 40 people will be called as witnesses in the case of offering fraudulent Umrah packages to teachers by Yayasan Bakti Negara Terengganu (YBNT) last year.
Terengganu police chief Datuk Aidi Ismail (Pic below) said investigations into the case had been completed, and the investigation papers had been submitted to the Terengganu Attorney General’s Office.

According to Aidi, the Terengganu Commercial CID has managed to resolve the case with the arrest of three main suspects who deceived victims by issuing Umrah package offer letters to teachers through the Terengganu State Education Department (JPNT) last year.
They offered the packages at incredibly cheap prices, with an average price of RM3,000 person, and duped almost 4,000 victims, the majority of whom were believed to be teachers, involving a total loss of RM4.2 million.
Prior media reports stated that 378 police reports had been lodged regarding the fraud, with nine investigation papers opened. — Bernama
