KUALA TERENGGANU: Heavy rain since last night has caused flooding in several areas in the state, forcing the evacuation of 218 people early today.
They comprise 200 people from Kampung Tok Jembal here and 18 from Kampung Kubu in Marang, near here, a spokesman of the National Security Council said when contacted.
He added that the flood victims were now placed at Sekolah Kebangsaan Tok Jembal here and in Sekolah Kebangsaan Marang and Kampung Kubu community hall in Marang.
School sessions were not affected.
Meanwhile, Km 14 of Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kuala Berang in Kampung Bukit Payong was closed to light vehicles since early today due to the flood. – BERNAMA
