KUALA TERENGGANU: The State Education Department has recorded 12 bullying cases in schools throughout the state for the past six months.

Its director Shafruddin Ali Hussain said 10 of the cases have been solved following internal discussion between family members of the students involved.

“We found that two cases were brought before the police for actions as the parents of the two victims intended to seek justifications on their children’s welfare,” he added.

He said overall, bullying cases in the state had dropped compared with the previous year following cooperation between the police, parents and local community to curb the problems.

“We have placed complaint boxes at all 105 schools’ hostels since Jan 1, to take note and act against the problems or matters raised by the student. We have also told the administration not to sweep things under the carpets,” he said. – NST
