KOTA BARU: PAS is confident that it can still win Kelantan in the coming 14th general election (GE14) despite various challenges faced by the party of late.
Menteri Besar Datuk Ustaz Ahmad Yakob said the party’s enemies had done a lot to try to make people hate Pas, but all had been in vain.
“Our enemies do not want Pas to grow and are hoping the party will fall. Therefore, they do many things to create fear among the people. However, despite all these challenges, and with our strong faith, Pas has managed to (get past) these disturbances and, God willing, will remain in power in Kelantan after the next GE,” he said.
Ahmad, who is PAS deputy spiritual leader, was speaking at the 27th anniversary celebration of the party’s formation of the state government at Dataran Ilmu here today.
About 800 Pas supporters attended the function. Also present were Deputy Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Amar Nik Abdullah and several state executive councillors.
On another note, Ahmad said the party was also confident that state government leaders and officers were free from corruption and any wrongdoings that might tarnish its image as an Islamic state.
“It has been our policy since we (took over) Kelantan in 1990 to ensure there will be no leakage in our administration and we strongly believe this is also one of the obligations that we must follow as Muslims,” he said. – NST
