PN to focus efforts on 126 ‘winnable’ parliamentary seats ahead of GE16

Pas and its allies in Perikatan Nasional are focusing on preparations for their election machinery in 126 parliamentary seats that they believe have high potential of being won in the 16th General Election (GE16).

PN information chief Tan Sri Annuar Musa said that number, however, did not include seats in Sarawak.

He said, while Pas may not contest all 126 seats, the party was ready to provide support and assist “like-minded allies” contesting in those constituencies.

“The election machinery of Pas and PN is focusing preparations on areas with strong potential. No fewer than 126 parliamentary seats with high winning potential are currently receiving attention, excluding those in Sarawak.

“Although Pas will not necessarily contest all 126 seats, it is Pas’ principle and practice to assist like-minded allies who contest in those seats later,” he said in a Facebook post.

It is not known what Annuar meant by “like-minded allies”.

Previously, Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki had said the party would set up a special committee to handle negotiations on political cooperation, including with Pas.

Annuar said the decision on which constituencies and how many seats Pas will contest has been left to the party’s top leadership.

“We will abide by any decision. Pas also remains steadfast in developing policy ideas and plans for a more prosperous Malaysia,” he said.NST
