: Pas has yet to receive any application from Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin to join the party despite recent speculation.
PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said while the party is open to new members, interested individuals must submit a formal application for consideration.
“As of now, we have not received any application from Datuk Seri Hamzah or any other member of parliament. Pas is open to everyone, but they must apply, and we will decide according to standard procedures,” he told reporters here last night.
He was commenting on rumours that Hamzah, the Larut member of parliament, would join Pas following his sacking from Bersatu.
However, Hamzah has remained non-committal regarding the matter, stating that rumours in politics are rarely certain and declining to comment further.
Takiyuddin noted that Pas continues to attract interest, citing more than 2,000 new members who joined recently, including former high-ranking federal government officials.
“Just yesterday, we accepted more than 2,000 new members. They include former senior civil servants and those from other parties. One of them retired as a director-general of a federal government department,” he said.
